At the urging of XJRig - longtime Geezer, who's been World of Tanks buddies with me and Hawnsail the past 5 years - I downloaded Armored Warfare last night. Overnight, actually. HUGE download.
Played two co-op rounds this morning, and my initial reaction is that it's a cross between World of Tanks / WarThunder and Battlefield 4. If you've played WoT or WarThunder, the basic layout will seem familiar - map in the bottom right corner, aiming reticle with reload meter built in, mouse wheel zoom, health indicators on hostile vehicles, etc. The garage is similar, and many of the upgrade options and career options are very much the same.
But the graphics engine used looks and feels much more like BF4 than it does WoT or WT. And the vehicles are modern - not World War II vintage.
Mostly, though, the gameplay looks and FEELS like driving a tank in BF4 more than it does playing WoT or WT.
I'm going to play some more over the weekend - not dropping any coin into the game yet (don't want to repeat my WoT mistakes ... where I feel wed to the game because I've spent so much on it), but the F2P model works for me for now.
Gaming since the Odyssey ... Magnavox, not Homer ...
