Is it me or my gun?

Some of you may know by now that I am a noob to the BF4 Multiplayer but have played the single player quite a bit. I'm having a little trouble with my main weapon. It seems I can shoot dead on to an opponent and it does little damage. They can turn around and kill me in a few shots. A case in point: I was on top of a small ledge and shooting straight down on top of a guy. I had my crosshairs on him and could see some damage but he turned up and killed me in a few shots. I was revived by another assault teammate and did the very same thing. He killed me twice in the same scenario.
Since I am just beginning my quest on BF4 Multiplayer (and loving it) I am getting a little frustrated by dying so easily and not killing the enemy. Maybe my aim isn't so good ... maybe it's the gun they give you at the beginning. The class I am playing is Assault and the weapon I am using is the AK-12, which is what they gave me when I started to play. Are others using better weapons? Do you get more "killing" weapons as you progress in the game? Or do I just suck ... no comments please :) Again, it's frustrating when you get the jump on a guy, shoot him, and he turns and kills you in a few shots. Thanks!

By the way, I did see a guy after I died, get shot up, and take on a direct grenade blast at his feet and walk away. Strange.

The guns make a huge difference, in my experience. And yes, it IS frustrating!

And of course, there are - unfortunately - all too many hackers out there going undetected and gettnig away with it.

When you unlock the heavy barrel and stubby/potatoe grip you will be able to take them down easier.

I also dropped my graphics to the lowest setting but I only can get a frame rate of 32 when I test it in the Test Range. Is it time to buy a new system or is this a normal frame rate for this game? What frame rate do you get?

I can get 120 FPS at 1920 x 1080 Resolution (V-sync Off) with all in game graphic settings on Ultra except Ambient Occlusion, Anti Aliasing Deferred and Anti Aliasing Post set to OFF on the test range. In game with a lot of action FPS drops to approx 90 - 100. I run an I7-930 CPU with EVGA GTX 770 Video Card. I have also tried setting V sync to adaptive through Nvidia control panel and got a steady 60 FPS in game.

Yeah 32 is way to low. You want to be around the 60 mark at the lowest to play well and turn off like everything.

What are your computer specs?

My system might be a little heftier than you're thinking. Mine will play Black Ops. This model is depicted here:

http://www.cnet.com/products/dell-xps-17-3d/

This is the Dell 3D laptop that's not an ordinary laptop. I watch 3D movies with the Nvidia 3D glasses and also can play games in 3D. The graphics with the SandyBridge were tops a few years ago. Now they are replaced with the Maxwell architecture, like the GTX 980M for laptops that are sold now. My machine was made for graphics at the time to do the 3D stuff and it does it quite well. It will still play all the games like Black Ops - exception of Star Citizen by Chris Roberts that is coming out in 2016. (I am also a contributor to Star Citizen and will be playing when it comes out. I'll need a new system before then.)

I guess the real story lies in the fact that, like always, technology advances and games get more intense and need more processor power. This heap has done me well but if the games played with it are a low fps because of advancements in games, there goes my pocketbook again.

As I stated above, I have been using the AK-12 since I am just beginning to play BF4 Multiplayer. No attachments.

I have the highest speed DSL. My download speed we 12.57 Mbps.

Well maybe it's just two things. I need a new machine and I need to suck less.

Ok me explain a bit more.
My wifes Dell laptop is an i7 at 3.5ghz,12gb ram and a 580m graphics card. was over a $1500 laptop
It is got a bit more umph than yours and all it does while playing a game as low quality compared to BF4 standards is stutter really bad, freezes for a second here and there and shows graphical artifacts until the laptop just shuts down.

When it was new it was fine, did great but the laptop housing is such a bad design it would run too hot and eventually that has damaged the processor to the point that what I said above happens with any game.We bought her laptop described as a "Gaming Laptop".

Lesson learned with Dell laptops.
Spent another $800 and built her new pc at the time
Case,MB,3.6ghz AMD CPU,8gb ram,1 tb had,560 GPU. plus all the other parts required for a desktop.Spent half the price and got a much better gaming pc.

Im not trying talk bad about your laptop so much as I know dell is just bad at the exterior designs, especially at the time when that 555m was considered current spec card.
Asus Gaming laptops are much better quality from what I have seen and heard,I know there at least 2 geezers that did run them in the past.

And yeah,I could see any laptop just melting trying to run Star Citizen...BIG CR fan here,I will be playing a lot myself. Some other geezers here also have pledged for it.
Me I have a Cutlass Black,Freelancer DUR,Drake Herald and the Reliant. Cant wait for PU to go live.
