Out for awhile

The gaming rig gave up the ghost today. Came home, and it was frozen hard. Did a force reboot (i.e., turned it off), and it shut down - then wouldn't restart. Mobo has been quirky since I got it 4 years ago. Stops seeing the wireless card every few months until I reseat it. Or move it. USB drops for no reason.

Got Beef's old i7, and should be able to reuse the case, new power supply, memory, and drives. Although might get a new case, too.

Prolly not back until Sept. 15 or so in TS or game.

Oh, I do all the Web stuff on the laptop - I refuse to install any "productivity" or business software on the gaming rig.

Mobo is dead - the guy who's building the new rig for me said he couldn't get it to do anything. That Mobo was problem-filled since I first got it 5 years ago.

Building a new rig with Beef's old i7. Reusing as much of the old rig as possible - the new power supply, audio card, hard drives. SSD, blu-ray drive. Hope to back up by next week.

Picked up a GTX 970 video card today; should have new build ready by Friday!

Hey DrFr, are you back up now? Fireman and I noticed that you came in a KF2 game last night as spectator but left before it finished and switched to a new map. I thought perhaps you are getting things set up on your new gaming rig, perhaps you will be playing later today (Wed, 30 Sep 15) ...

New rig built; still installing Origin games. Steam found the games on the 2nd hard drive where I left them, and all my accomplishments are still there. Tanks and Warships installed, and the all-important iTunes!
